About Me

Hi there,

So this is my first official blog post (which is weird to say) and I figure since you’ve made it this far into my website, you are probably a little curious about me and what I’m about. I know I went into it a little in the “About Me” section of the website, however I’m gonna go a bit deeper here.

I was born and raised in California and have lived in the Bay Area all of my life. There have been many times I have wanted to leave (in an impulsive reaction to boredom) but I usually calm down and realize that where I live is a perfect launching-off point for all kinds of adventures. Realizing how close to the beautiful Sierras I am always eases the “eff it, I’m gone” itch. Plus, I’m close to one of my favorite places on planet Earth, Yosemite National Park.

Last year I married my best friend and long time girlfriend in Yosemite and realized that there really is a thing called “true love”. I’m thankful for every day I get to spend with her. Family is important to me, but believe that being connected by blood isn’t always required to be considered family. If you show up when it counts, are honest, and are willing to deal with tough situations then to me that’s family.

I am a self-taught landscape and adventure photographer with a full-time job. I work Monday through Friday and get weekends off (in most cases). I spend my weekends helping out with my wife’s health and wellness blog FreeYourFork.com, playing drums in a band, traveling anywhere (and everywhere) I can in two days, and editing pictures from previous adventures.

I live a sober life because I have proven that I am not very good at the managing of my life while distracted with those other things. I wanna be clear that I don’t preach about it and I do not to judge others for living it up. I usually keep this detail to myself, but if I can connect with someone on a deeper level by sharing my sober lifestyle then it’s worth it to step out of my comfort zone a bit.

In case you don’t already know, I love photography. It challenges me in so many different ways. At times I am completely frustrated by it, and others I am overwhelmed by the love I have for the art. I just know that it is an ever-evolving learning process. Looking over the past few years, my style or skill level has changed so much. And I anticipate it will continue evolving as long as I have a camera in hand. I am self-taught and learned on a Sony mirrorless system. After years of shooting, I’ve decided that I am going to stick with this brand - because I love their photo equipment and feel they are on the cutting edge of new technologies that are revolutionizing the camera industry.

Don’t get me wrong, there are so many different camera companies that have equally awesome features. This is just the set-up that I have chosen, that works best for my style of photography.

If you have any questions or comments for me, please feel free to leave it in a comment below or if you don’t want to publicly share something (which I completely understand) go ahead and send me an email. Either way, I’m happy to connect and promise to get back to you as soon as I can.
